Description
The story goes that when Balvenie distillery manager Ian Millar spotted a week’s gap in the distillery schedule in 2002 he decided it was the perfect chance to experiement with bringing back peated malt production, returning to how things were done until the early 1960s. Adding a peat-burner to the side of the kiln, the distillery now produces peated spirit for one week a year, using Speyside peat from the village of New Pitsligo near Fraserburgh.
