This Norwegian aquavit’s curious tradition of maritime maturation stretches back more than 200 years to 1805, when the Lysholm family sent a boat full of goods from Norway to east Asia. The five casks of aquavit in the hold didn’t sell, so returned to Norway where it was discovered that the rolling seas their ever-changing weather had worked a magic on the spirit.
